HELL Streaming New Single The Age Of Nefarious

Reactivated British occult metal legends HELL are streaming their new single, The Age Of Nefarious, to be released on October 25 via Nuclear Blast Records: The 10-inch vinyl will come in several different colors and will include the title track plus live versions of three songs recorded at this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival.

After disbanding in 1987, HELL was reincarnated in 2011, with Andy Sneap (guitar) and David Bower (vocals) joining original members Kev Bower (guitar, keyboards), Tony Speakman (bass) and Tim Bowler (drums). Now the British quintet is about the release the follow-up to its highly acclaimed 2011 debut, Human Remains.

The band's sophomore offering, Curse And Chapter, will be made available on November 22 via Nuclear Blast. The effort will include a bonus DVD containing six songs from HELL's February 23, 2013 show at the Darwin Suite Assembly Rooms in Derby.

Commented Kev Bower: "In a world dominated by conflict, disease, corruption, poverty, disaster and crime - much of which has religion at its source - this is truly the dawning of The Age Of Nefarious.

The song was always going to be the perfect opener for the new Curse And Chapter album since it lays the foundation for everything which follows, but when we were approached by our friends at Nuclear Blast with the idea of producing a lead-off EP, we also decided that out of four possible EP album-track candidates, this song should also be the one.

It represents everything which HELL represents - it powers along in awe-inspiring majesty, but takes lots of unexpected twists and turns before reaching its inevitable conclusion. The artwork is once again the result of our collaboration with Dan Goldsworthy, and it shows just a tiny fraction of the artwork he has created for Curse And Chapter.

With regard to the additional live tracks, where better to have recorded these than from the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2013 - the spiritual home of U.K. metal, during one of the best shows we have ever played, and in front of 10,000 of the most dedicated metalheads in the world.

We are proud to be giving you a glimpse into the second chapter."

EXTREMEFEST 2013 - Further Bands Confirmed

"2012 marks the unholy birth of the one and only EXTREMEFEST – the first issue of the festival sated the bloodthirst of thousands of extreme metal fans over the course of three days!

We partied with big names of the scene and sweated in countless circle pits …over 70 bands with a stylistic variety ranging from black, death, thrash, grindcore all the way to modern deathcore sounds decided to drop by. Unbeatable, you say?

Fear not: bands like BEHEMOTH, KATAKLYSM, LEGION OF THE DAMNED, THYRFING, GRAVE, TANKARD, VADER, ENSLAVED and many more will make sure that you’ll get the most brutal party in this solar system at EXTREMEFEST 2013!"

Today the following further bands have been confirmed:

CARACH ANGREN
If you dig classic black metal mixed with symphonic elements, you surely will have come across Dutch band CARACH ANGREN! Their sound is often compared to that of early DIMMU BORGIR, and their sombre and majestic songwriting impressed an ever-growing fan base on albums such as Death Came Through A Phantom Ship (2010). CARACH ANGREN recently thrilled with Where The Corpses Sink Forever (2012).

DESCENDING
DESCENDING are hailing right from the heart of Greece – Athens! Founded in 2007, these guys indulge in modern death and thrash metal with melodic hooks guaranteed to get you addicted! After the release of their new opus magnum New Death Celebrity early 2013 and a planned tour with Greek comrades SEPTICFLESH, shooting stars DESCENDING will make an appearance at the EXTREMEFEST!

MALIGNANT TUMOUR
Czech act MALIGNANT TUMOUR was one of the first bands in their home country to belch out extreme sounds in the early 90s. The raw songwriting of their early years has now evolved to balls-out “Dirty Metallic Crust’n’Roll” – an infectious and groovy mixture! The brand new MALIGNANT TUMOUR album Overdose And Overdrive will be released early 2013.

VIBRION
VIBRION can proudly claim to be one of the first death metal acts ever to emerge from Argentina! Quite a while ago these guys relocated to Belgium though to indulge in their hefty brand of raw death and thrash metal. In 2012, the old school brigade unearthed the exhaustive box set The Contagion Decade – and now it’s time for their return on stage (and to the studio)!

KADAVERFICKER
KADAVERFICKER means CORPSEFUCKER – quite the subtle band name, right? These Germans have been dealing in death metal and grindcore since the early `90s, or as the band likes to call it: “Nekrokore”! Obviously their lyrics are more in the “City Of The Living Dead” vein than “Pretty Woman”, and after a long hiatus KADAVERFICKER finally returned in 2012 with Exploitation Nekronation!

AMTLICH - Die Metal-Kolumne Bei SPIEGEL-ONLINE: OVERKILL Und CANNIBAL CORPSE

OVERKILL - "Overkill - Fucking You Since 1980.

Battles Vol. 9 - Gute Mucke Trifft Auf Death-Metal-Schickeria

The Very End kämpfen sich rein

The Very End

Setlist:

Memento
Ball & Chain
The Leper
Flatline
A Hole In The Sun
Sewn Eye Sleep
Rat Nation
Dead Is The New Alive
Three Zero Nine
Letters To The Living
Blacklisted
The Loss Theory

Extremeties: The Heaviest Producers Of Hardcore, Thrash Metal, Death Metal And Grindcore Speak

An excerpt of a must read article by David Konow for Guitar International on the recording history of some of the greatest metal albums ever.

"When the music of the eighties comes to mind, you often think of hair bands, and one hit wonder new wave groups. Yet the mid to late eighties was a great time to be a fan of hardcore, speed / thrash / death metal, and the other genres and sub-genres that metal and punk morphed into.

For every Metallica, there were innumerable smaller bands trying to get their music out into the world. There were also several go-to guys working behind the scenes who understood the music, and knew how to record it right, namely Randy Burns (Megadeth), Scott Burns (Sepultura), Casey McMackin (Randy Burns’ engineer), Alex Perialas (Anthrax), and Colin Richardson (Carcass, Machine Head). Now for Guitar International, they all take a look back on their careers and track the evolution of extreme metal from the eighties to today.

If you were a thrash / speed / death metal fan back in the eighties, you saw the names Randy Burns and Casey McMackin on the back of a lot of albums. Burns usually produced, McMackin usually engineered, and their partnership first came together on the Megadeth classic Peace Sells.

Before their merger, Randy played guitar in bands, and had a little home studio. Burns at first wasn’t looking to be a producer, but as a favor he recorded a neighbor’s punk band, and soon word got around that he knew what he was doing.

Burns then worked as an engineer on a punk compilation album called Hell Comes to Your House in 1981 (the album reportedly cost $550, and featured Social Distortion among many other L.A. punk bands). Burns’ production work on Hell got him another engineering gig, the self-titled debut album from Suicidal Tendencies."

GLORYFUL Und HARASAI Im Turock, Essen - Bericht Und Fotos Auf Fotowalther.de

HARASAI @Turock, Essen
Foto: Dirk Walther
Underground Winter
Edition 2012
28.01.2012 - Turock Essen
