HIRAX Have To Delay New Album Until 2014
Singer and mastermind Katon W. De Pena says: "We are sorry for the delays as we know that the fans are waiting desperately for the album, but we have had some unexpected delays in the studio and we do not want to release a half hearted album.
Our fans deserve only the best, so watch out for one of the best thrash metal records released in a long time. We are also sorry that the FLOTSAM AND JETSAM / HIRAX European tour is cancelled, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to pull the plug.
We are planning a full scale US tour in March, and have further plans to return to Europe. As a little compensation, we will release a digital single for the song Hellion Rising on November 22. Thanks for all your understanding and patience, and be sure that 2014 will be a killer year for HIRAX. Horns up!"
Immortal Legacy will now be released in Germany on February 21, in Europe on February 24 and in North America on March 4 via Steamhammer / SPV as CD, gatefold coloured vinyl and download.
The album is produced by Bill Metoyer (SLAYER, ARMORED SAINT, W.A.S.P., SACRED REICH) and the cover was drawn by legendary artist Philip Lawvere (KREATOR, CELTIC FROST). It’s his first oil painting in 25 years since coming out of retirement. Guest guitar players on the album are Jim Durkin (DARK ANGEL), Juan Garcia (AGENT STEEL, EVILDEAD) and Rocky George (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, FISHBONE).

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM And HIRAX's Metal Apocalypse European Tour Canceled
Jeff Keller Management LLC, the management company for FLOTSAM AND JETSAM and HIRAX, has announced that due to circumstances beyond the bands' and management’s control, the Metal Apocalypse European tour that was scheduled to feature both artists has been canceled.
Says Jeff Keller: "Unfortunately, it was in both bands' best interest to not continue with the tour at this time. We apologize to the fans for this unfortunate circumstance, and I can assure the fans that both bands will be in Europe in 2014 for other touring and festival appearances."
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM recently returned to Metal Blade Records to release their new album, Ugly Noise. Ugly Noise is FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's eleventh full-length album, their first release on Metal Blade since 2001 and the follow-up to their 2010 album, The Cold.
HIRAX will release its new album, Immortal Legacy, on October 22 (six days later in Europe) via SPV / Steamhammer. It will be made available as a CD, gatefold colored LP and a digital download. Philip Lawvere, the artist behind such classic album covers as KREATOR's Pleasure To Kill and CELTIC FROST's Emperor's Return, has designed the Immortal Legacy cover.

SODOM Reveal Cover And Track Listing For New Album Epitome Of Torture
The album was produced by Waldemar Sorychta (a.o. EXUMER, THE VERY END), whose expertise as a sound engineer and audio magician thoroughly benefitted Sodom’s 2010 release, In War And Pieces.
Tom Angelripper: “Waldemar is an exceptional producer, who always succeeds in evening out an artist’s weak spot and promoting his strengths. He doesn’t let you get away with anything, he knows all our weak spots. Which occasionally makes working at the studio a little demanding, but at the end of the day it’s all worthwhile, as the result shows.” The Sodom frontman describes the sound on Epitome Of Torture as “hard-as-nails and contemporary, without ignoring our tried-and-tested old-school attitude.”
The new album will be available worldwide through Steamhammer / SPV in four different formats: as download, a limited-edition DigiPak including two bonus tracks and a poster, in a regular jewel case and as a double gatefold colored vinyl with three bonus tracks.
Epitome Of Torture is set to be released April 26 Germany, April 29 Europe, May 7 North America.

SODOM Reveal Details On New Album Epitome Of Torture
SODOM have announced the release of their new studio album Epitome Of Torture in Germany on April 26, 2013 (Europe April 29, North America May 7) via Steamhammer / SPV.
In recent months, vocalist / bassist Tom Angelripper, guitarist Bernemann and drummer Markus “Makka” Freiwald recorded a total of twelve new tracks (plus a Motörhead cover) which present Sodom as more diverse and multi-faceted than ever.
“Epitome Of Torture features not only your typical Sodom fare, but also two or three numbers which are slightly more moderate and melodic than what people have come to expect from us,” Tom Angelripper explains, “so wait and see!”

Sodom are about to start shooting a video for their new album song Stigmatized with ROAX team (e.g. Sodom: Lords of Depravity Vol 1+2) in Berlin. “Sodom haven’t had an official video clip for some time, so it’s about time we do one,” Tom Angelripper confesses. “That’s why it will be an uncompromising, shocking clip which our fans can look forward to!”
While all of this sounds very promising, the same question remains once more: why different release dates spread over almost two weeks?
Wake up labels and finally arrive in the 21st century! Maybe you don’t care about your employees becoming workless once reality has whiped you out, but it’s your damn duty to care about your artists.
If the web and ways to handle the demands of the current and future music business properly are still a mystery to you, get people on board who are 21st century men and don’t kill your artists with your stubborn, ignorant 80’s style!

“Dear misfit kings and dead end queens!
Here we are, watching the last days of 2012 go down the drain, just about a week after yet another proclaimed end of the world. Time for a quick recap of 2012.
We don´t want to bore you with telling how much blood, sweat and tears have been shed, because that´s obligatory. Damn sure we played some great shows throughout the year and looked into some abysses around them, be it weird red light district trips, mud fights or peppermint booze. But 2012 had some more changes up its sleeve for us.
We have bid another new band member welcome. Alex Bartkowski (Ex-Guerrilla) took over from guitarist Volker Rummel, who amicably left the band in summer after a memorable farewell gig at the Dong Open Air. Alex´ official live debut was at the Nord Open Air in Essen alongside Sodom, Entombed and many others, while only 2 days later we entered the studio to record our third album.
Turn Off The World, again produced with legendary Waldemar Sorychta and Dennis Koehne, displays all our trademarks and quite a few fresh vibes alike. We´re simply damn proud of this fucker! The album came out in late November, the release show was killer, too, and the response of both fans and press has been awesome so far!
Now it´s time to get this baby on the road, which is our focus for 2013. Sweaty & loud shows, metal as fuck! Right in YOUR town, right between YOUR eyes! So this is what we leave you with for now – the prospect of numerous The Very End shows, all of which to turn off your fuckin´ worlds for a while!
Finally, we again couldn´t have done all this without the help of our faithful crew, especially Sascha & Featured Artists, Carsten & Cyphers X, Georg & SPV, Roland, our ladies, friends & families and every other helping hand – you know who you are...

- The 2011 Recap -
"2011 is almost over – time for a quick recap. And quite a lot of things happened around The Very End.
First and foremost we released "Mercy & Misery" in January, and your reactions told us that many of you have gladly let our fallen-between-the-cracks German Metal kick their asses. Thank your for that! Our first official video clip for "A Hole In The Sun" (shot by Filmefahrer Pictures) was premiered in January as well, and with over 150.000 views up to now we can call it a great success!
Furthermore we proudly presented our new drummer Daniel Zeman (also in Enemy Of The Sun), who made his live debut in January, too. Yet 2011 was also the year of stand-in musicians for The Very End, who fortunately made us forget about carnal or mental malfunctions of one or another band member. Hence, a big thanx goes out to Alex Bartkowski (Guerrilla), Dennis Baron (Final Depravity), Martin Below (Guerrilla) and Roland Smigerski.
Apart from those fine guys we´d also like to thank our label Steamhammer / SPV and our roadcrew Sascha, Anja, Birte & Lolli and all the other helping hands for keepin´ the faith!
Some sticky, sweaty live shows later – we shook the stages with e.g. Forbidden, Morgoth and Sacred Reich, the year is almost over again already and we´re writing this recap. But we definitely ain´t gonna leave you without a short preview of what´s to come in 2012: the songwriting for our third album is going full throttle, some great live shows are booked and we promise that even if the Maya will be proved right and 2012 will hold the very end of it all – we will at least provide you with the perfect soundtrack for it!
On that note – happy new year, see you in 2012 and bang that head that doesn´t bang!"

Am Freitag, den 1. Juli, stand Thrash auf dem Speiseplan des Turock, Essen. Die amerikanischen Oldschool-Thrasher von Sacred Reich lockten Mattenschwinger und Kuttenträger in die ehemalige Kulturhauptstadt. Supported wurden die Amis von The Very End, der neuen Perle des deutschen Thrashmetal. Vor gut einem halben Jahr erschien ihr neues Album Mercy & Misery bei SPV und Soulseller Ben ließ es sich nicht nehmen, Sänger Björn Goosses und Bassist Marc Beste ein bisschen auf den Zahn zu fühlen.
Hallo ihr beiden! Schön, dass ihr euch zu dieser späten Stunde noch die Zeit für ein kleines Interview nehmt. Gratulation zu diesem sehr gelungenen Auftritt. Der Sound war zwar mehr als schwierig, aber ihr habt euch nicht unterkriegen lassen und den Laden gut zum Beben gebracht. Was denkt ihr über den heutigen Abend?
Björn: Heute war sehr schön. Wir haben ehrlich gesagt nicht mit so guten Reaktionen gerechnet. Vor kurzem spielten wir zusammen mit Forbidden vor einem sehr Oldschool-Thrash begeisterten Publikum, das auf unseren Sound nicht wirklich klar kam. Wir haben ein Talent uns Shows auszusuchen, auf denen wir manchmal vielleicht ein bisschen deplatziert sind. Aber wir nehmen gerne Herausforderungen an. Mit dem heutigen Abend sind wir absolut zufrieden.
Seit 2010 seid ihr bei SPV unter Vertrag und eine Menge ist in der Zwischenzeit passiert. Was ist der Unterschied zwischen The Very End 2005 und The Very End heute?
Björn: Ich will nicht sagen, dass wir damals eine andere Band waren, aber in der Tat hat sich in der Zeit natürlich viel verändert. 2005 haben wir die Band als eine Art Projekt gegründet. Es fing damit an das René (Gitarrist) 2001 bei einer Night In Gales-Tour ausgeholfen hatte und schon damals vorschlug, gemeinsam etwas zu machen. Diese Idee hing dann einige Jahre im Raum und irgendwann kam René mit Lars im Schlepptau, der damals noch der Schlagzeuger von Destillery war, auf mich zu. Dann kamen Marc (Bass) und Jens (Gitarre) von Night In Gales, der dann durch Volker ersetzt wurde. 2005 machten wir dann unsere ersten Schritte. Ich will nicht unbedingt sagen, dass das gemeinsame musizieren damals freier war, aber es war mehr easy going. Mit der Pattenfirma im Rücken arbeiten wir natürlich anders, als wenn wir in Eigenregie ein Demo aufnehmen.
Ich erinnere mich auch noch gut an unsere Anfangszeiten. Da haben wir im Bunker in Marl geprobt und jedes Treffen bestand zu 50 % aus Gelaber wie jetzt ein Riff klingen soll oder nicht. Heute macht genau das den Reiz an The Very End aus. Jeder gibt seinen Teil zur Band und bringt Songideen oder Riffs mit in den Proberaum. Nur spielen wir mehr und labern nicht mehr soviel.
Marc: Musikalisch ist es heute auf jeden Fall breiter gefächert. Am Anfang war es mehr melodischer Death Metal. Mittlerweile hat es sich so eingependelt, das alles stattfinden darf. Auf der anderen Seite gibt es jetzt natürlich den geschäftlichen Teil, und da muss man sich mit viel Scheiß beschäftigen. Das findet oft im Proberaum statt und nervt natürlich. Allerdings haben wir dadurch bessere Konzertmöglichkeiten und wir können Alben aufnehmen. Das ist sehr schön.
Björn: Als wir noch in Marl-Sinsen probten habe ich mir einen Rucksack voll Karlskrone gepackt, bin mit der Bahn hingefahren und wir hatten eine gute Zeit bei der Probe. Jetzt proben wir entweder in Essen oder in Köln, trinken Mineralwasser und arbeiten bei der Probe. Das ganze Drumherum ist halt viel zeitintensiver geworden. Aber das gleicht sich natürlich dadurch aus, dass wir heute mit Bands wie Sepultura, Morgoth, Sacred Reich und vielen anderen zusammen auftreten. Hier weiterlesen
