SUICIDAL ANGELS Unveil Divide And Conquer Artwork

Greek thrashers SUICIDAL ANGELS have unveiled the cover artwork for the band’s new and fifth album, Divide And Conquer. The cover artwork comes from grandmaster Ed Repka (e.g. Megadeth, Possessed, Death), who also designed the previous SUICIDAL ANGELS album covers for Dead Again and Bloodbath.

Commented vocalist Nick Melissourgos: “If you notice, in the pit, it’s not people fighting, it’s zombies. Also the crowd isn’t human, they are zombies. They are the souls of people who have no human feelings anymore. They represent the ugliness and the inhumanity of the humans. Thus, turned into something else, they are easier to be conquered and manipulated.”

Divide And Conquer, due January 10, 2014, has again been recorded with RD Liapakis in Germany, mixing and mastering duties have been handled by Fredrik Nordström (Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity a.o.) at Fredman Studios.

SUICIDAL ANGELS will set out for the Conquering Europe headlining tour in January / February 2014. The excellent tour package of new generation Thrash Metal bands is gonna be completed by Californians FUELED BY FIRE (new album Trapped In Perdition), Finns LOST SOCIETY (debut album Fast Loud Death) and Greek newcomers EXARSIS (new album Brutal State). See tour dates at

HELL Streaming New Single The Age Of Nefarious

Reactivated British occult metal legends HELL are streaming their new single, The Age Of Nefarious, to be released on October 25 via Nuclear Blast Records: The 10-inch vinyl will come in several different colors and will include the title track plus live versions of three songs recorded at this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival.

After disbanding in 1987, HELL was reincarnated in 2011, with Andy Sneap (guitar) and David Bower (vocals) joining original members Kev Bower (guitar, keyboards), Tony Speakman (bass) and Tim Bowler (drums). Now the British quintet is about the release the follow-up to its highly acclaimed 2011 debut, Human Remains.

The band's sophomore offering, Curse And Chapter, will be made available on November 22 via Nuclear Blast. The effort will include a bonus DVD containing six songs from HELL's February 23, 2013 show at the Darwin Suite Assembly Rooms in Derby.

Commented Kev Bower: "In a world dominated by conflict, disease, corruption, poverty, disaster and crime - much of which has religion at its source - this is truly the dawning of The Age Of Nefarious.

The song was always going to be the perfect opener for the new Curse And Chapter album since it lays the foundation for everything which follows, but when we were approached by our friends at Nuclear Blast with the idea of producing a lead-off EP, we also decided that out of four possible EP album-track candidates, this song should also be the one.

It represents everything which HELL represents - it powers along in awe-inspiring majesty, but takes lots of unexpected twists and turns before reaching its inevitable conclusion. The artwork is once again the result of our collaboration with Dan Goldsworthy, and it shows just a tiny fraction of the artwork he has created for Curse And Chapter.

With regard to the additional live tracks, where better to have recorded these than from the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2013 - the spiritual home of U.K. metal, during one of the best shows we have ever played, and in front of 10,000 of the most dedicated metalheads in the world.

We are proud to be giving you a glimpse into the second chapter."

By Featured Artists

Legendary reunited thrashers
DARKNESS from Altenessen, Germany are about to play the first show in their reformed new line-up - at Ages Of Metal Festival in Oostrozebeke, Belgium this Saturday, September 28!

Out of the three albums DARKNESS had released from 1987 to 1989, especially their debut Death Squad is commonly regarded as a genre classic and serves as a blueprint for Thrash Metal to the day.

DARKNESS celebrated their 25th anniversary at the cathedral of Teutonic Thrash, Essen-Altenessen’s Zeche Carl, in December 2012 and announced the band’s official reunion this summer.

The new line-up features a household name: KREATOR bassist Christian “Speesy” Giesler. Commented Speesy: “There’s just two bands I’d like to play music with - KREATOR and DARKNESS.”

GLENN GOULD - iTunes Celebrates 81st Birthday

Canadian pianist GLENN GOULD, one of the greatest musicians and media artists of all time, would have turned 81 today if he were still alive. iTunes celebrates this date and features GLENN GOULD's Bach Goldberg Variations this week. GOULD's initial recording of the piece, from 1955, was an achievement of technical brilliance that established his career; his thoughtful return to it in 1981 illustrated how the same composition, played by the same musician, can become a wholly different work of art. Enhance your musical perception and go get GLENN GOULD’s 1955 historic recording debut plus the 1981 digital recording of the Goldberg Variations on iTunes!
Read more on GLENN GOULD in this tribute: By LANG LANG |
grammy.com “Glenn Gould was an amazing personality. Every note he played was so individual, from his groundbreaking first recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations (at the age of 23) to his recorded surveys of huge sections of the piano literature. He was perhaps one of the most unusual musicians ever to have performed (he retired from public performance completely at a young age, spending the rest of his performing life in the recording studio), but such was his wonderful musicianship that he is only more beloved by his audience. He performed very little in comparison with the other great soloists, yet his connection with his audience was so incredible that the music-loving public was (and is) devoted to him through the great strength of his musical communication. Think of Glenn and one word springs to mind: Bach. Glenn had a connection with Bach's music perhaps above all other composers. It was completely suited to his very intelligent approach to music (he always tried to approach a score as a fellow composer, aiming for a freedom and understanding as if he might have written it himself) and he recorded nearly all of Bach's output for the keyboard across his career. The clarity and beauty of sound he brings to this composer is unparalleled. Bach said he wrote his music for the glory of heaven, and Glenn's performances elevate his works to a spirituality that I have never heard equaled. The Goldberg Variations recordings that he did at the beginning and end of his career are two thoroughly different, and equally beautiful, interpretations of one of the most magnificent works in the piano literature and every pianist (including myself) that has ever opened the score lives in the shadow of Glenn's performance. But Glenn was an artist far above and beyond one composer. He recorded music from the classics through Scriabin and Schoenberg to his own works - and was not afraid to be controversial in his delivery (a stated distaste for the music of Mozart, for example, of whom he held the opinion that he died too late, led to some sometimes shocking and invariably brilliant performances). His famous performance of Brahms' D minor concerto led to his collaborator Leonard Bernstein issuing a disclaimer to the audience at Carnegie Hall beforehand, and is a very personal but amazing interpretation. His favorite composer was the early master Orlando Gibbons, whose work he passionately performed both on record and in the concert hall. His artistic heroes ranged from Leopold Stokowski to Barbra Streisand. Although Glenn Gould died tragically young at only 50, he committed an enormous amount to disc (and film), and it is through his recorded legacy that we can remember him. Glenn, you were the most amazing musician. We are so lucky to have had you among us. Thank you for leaving behind these wonderful recordings that move and inspire me and countless others. Glenn, we miss you.” (LANG LANG is arguably the most renowned Chinese pianist in history and enjoys superstar status in the classical music world. He was nominated for a GRAMMY in 2007 for his recording of Beethoven's piano concertos Nos. 1 & 4, and serves as the GRAMMY Cultural Ambassador to China.)

EXODUS Singer's GENERATION KILL - New Album Details Revealed

GENERATION KILL, the band featuring EXODUS frontman Rob Dukes, will release its sophomore album, We're All Gonna Die, on November 15 via Nuclear Blast. The CD was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, who has previously worked with SUICIDE SILENCE, ALL THAT REMAINS, SHADOWS FALL and SOULFLY, among others.

Commented Dukes: "We called this album We're All Gonna Die because, for the most part, the lyrics are about the darker side of the existence of humans on this planet.

The album as a whole is so diverse, drawing from our influences that we grew up on.

We achieved our goal of creating something that we all are so proud of. I personally think this is the strongest vocal performance of my career, and as a band we can't wait for the hard rock/metal world to hear this album."

Added Zeuss: "This album is not an EXODUS clone. This is an album of music where five guys got together and explored our own roots of music, the records we grew up listening to and wrote songs paying homage to what we love."

KREATOR’s Mille Petrozza On Dying Alive, Melody And Brutality - A Bravewords.com Special Report

By Maria Nayef for bravewords.com

After thirty years and thirteen studio albums,
KREATOR is currently enjoying a career high. Having taken their tour showcasing the songs from last year’s acclaimed record Phantom Antichrist across Europe, they are still heating up the festival circuit before heading to China as well as North and South America.
They also have a new live CD/DVD called Dying Alive that recently had a royal-like premier at Germany’s historic Lichtburg cinema in Essen, before landing in the top 10 of the German charts upon its release. All befitting for a band that sits on the throne of Teutonic thrash metal.

Boasting a staggering selection of hits from Kreator’s extensive and influential career, Dying Alive was recorded during the last show of their European tour last December in Oberhausen. Despite being show number 45 of the tour, you won’t see any signs of fatigue from these thrash veterans, who execute each song with exceptional proficiency and intensity.

On stage, frontman Mille Petrozza is fierce. An embodiment of sheer aggression, his harsh riffs fuelled by lyrics vehemently expressing his rage at the atrocities and hardships plaguing humanity while standing before the ghastly figure of the Phantom Antichrist; a metaphor for that which manipulates the masses and steals their souls. It’s a very Orwellian view of a world where what was once considered fiction has become a grim reality.

Speaking from his home in Essen, Petrozza says he’s still feeling fresh despite a bevy of press calls. There’s contentment in his voice, one that stems from an evident and deep respect for metal and Kreator fans.

DARKANE And Helsingborgs Brewery Present Darkale

Swedish thrashers DARKANE have joined forces with Helsingborgs Brewery to create Darkale.
The band says: "You guessed it, we’re talking beer. Ale to be specific. This delightful ale will unfortunately only be available in Sweden." This fall, Helsingborgs Brewery will step over to the dark side to give you a delicious hybrid of thrash metal and Skåne ölkunnande. The result is a tough and complex ale, equally inspired by fair means commodities of ferocious double pedals and heavy riffs.
Meet Darkale, a proud partnership with Helsingborg, Sweden-based band DARKANE. You get a dark and tasty brew with unexpected nuances and many levels. Helsingborgs Brewery describes Darkale as a "dark mahogany red-brown ale with a light foam. The taste is a bit malty with some burnt notes and caramel fudge. Easy hopped with fruity and some ortiga tones. Easy to drink for its variety and is perfect for your favorite metal music and some snacks. "
Says DARKANE: "We are extremely proud of this collaboration. "We started actually recording our latest album, 'The Sinister Supremacy', which came out last summer, with a beer tasting at Helsingborgs Brewery and already there were sown enough seeds of this amazing collaboration. Directed by Roy Warner who worked on both the From The Cradle To The Grave and Point Of No Return clips, the tune comes by way of the recently unleashed Unnatural Selection full-length and addresses the eight stages of genocide: classification, symbolization, dehumanization, organization, polarization, preparation, extermination and denial.

Released earlier this year via Candlelight Records, Unnatural Selection was produced by Terry Date (PANTERA, OVERKILL) and mastered by James Murphy (TESTAMENT, DEATH).
