HELL Streaming New Single The Age Of Nefarious

Reactivated British occult metal legends HELL are streaming their new single, The Age Of Nefarious, to be released on October 25 via Nuclear Blast Records: The 10-inch vinyl will come in several different colors and will include the title track plus live versions of three songs recorded at this year's Bloodstock Open Air festival.

After disbanding in 1987, HELL was reincarnated in 2011, with Andy Sneap (guitar) and David Bower (vocals) joining original members Kev Bower (guitar, keyboards), Tony Speakman (bass) and Tim Bowler (drums). Now the British quintet is about the release the follow-up to its highly acclaimed 2011 debut, Human Remains.

The band's sophomore offering, Curse And Chapter, will be made available on November 22 via Nuclear Blast. The effort will include a bonus DVD containing six songs from HELL's February 23, 2013 show at the Darwin Suite Assembly Rooms in Derby.

Commented Kev Bower: "In a world dominated by conflict, disease, corruption, poverty, disaster and crime - much of which has religion at its source - this is truly the dawning of The Age Of Nefarious.

The song was always going to be the perfect opener for the new Curse And Chapter album since it lays the foundation for everything which follows, but when we were approached by our friends at Nuclear Blast with the idea of producing a lead-off EP, we also decided that out of four possible EP album-track candidates, this song should also be the one.

It represents everything which HELL represents - it powers along in awe-inspiring majesty, but takes lots of unexpected twists and turns before reaching its inevitable conclusion. The artwork is once again the result of our collaboration with Dan Goldsworthy, and it shows just a tiny fraction of the artwork he has created for Curse And Chapter.

With regard to the additional live tracks, where better to have recorded these than from the main stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2013 - the spiritual home of U.K. metal, during one of the best shows we have ever played, and in front of 10,000 of the most dedicated metalheads in the world.

We are proud to be giving you a glimpse into the second chapter."

EXUMER Stream Fire & Damnation In Its Entirety On Stereokiller.com

German Thrashers EXUMER have partnered up with Stereokiller to provide a special, limited stream of their new album Fire & Damnation. The album can be heard now HERE between Friday, April 6th and April 13th!

Fire & Damnation is released in Germany / Austria / Switzerland today, April 06, on Metal Blade Records and will be unleashed worldwide April 9th in Europe/UK and April 10th in North America.

Vocalist Mem Von Stein addresses the fans: "It's been a wild ride for the past 27 years since we first formed the band, and it's been even a crazier ride for the past 4 since we decided to reform EXUMER

But here we are, stronger and wiser, and still with the same mission in mind: to create some of the most intense thrash metal on the planet! It's been a long wait for us and for you, the fans, but we hope the wait was well worth it!

Our first album in 25 years drops in Germany today - where the ride began in 1985 -, and also in Austria and Switzerland. As always we want to thank you for standing with us throughout all these years!

We will see you on tour, but until then enjoy Fire & Damnation! SPREAD THE FIRE!!"

Exumer have been confirmed to headline the "Metal on the Rocks" Festival in Mexico City on May 4th, 2012. The festival will also feature U.S. based MORBID SAINT, INQUISITION from Colombia, Mexican act RAGNELL and others. Exumer were slated to play in Mexico in December 2010, but were not able to travel due problems with the local promoters at the time. Two additional shows in Mexico have been added on May 5th and 6th, making it a total of three events for Exumer in the country!

Mem Von Stein comments: "We were devastated when we learned that we were not able to play those shows in Mexico in 2010. It was the first time in our career that we had to cancel a series of live shows in a country that has some of the most loyal and devoted metal fans on the planet.

We hope that we can make it up to the fans this time around and are proud to premier a brand new live set that will include songs from our brand new album Fire & Damnation, for the very first time in Mexico!"

EXUMER Launch New Song And Pre-Order Details For New Album 'Fire & Damnation'

Legendary German Thrashers EXUMER are all set for the release of their long anticipated comeback album 'Fire & Damnation', to be released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on April 6April 9 in Europe and April 10 in North America via Metal Blade Records.

Comments EXUMER singer Mem V. Stein: "With 'Fire & Damnation', we tried to create the most punishing and dominant thrash metal album of our career. No lackluster songs, no fillers, no lazy performance and no compromises. It moves straight forward from the the very first song to the last, delivering a vibrant mix of skilled musicianship with the urgency of the classic thrash records from the 1980s!"

The 'Fire & Damnation' title track is now available for full streaming, and you can pre-order the album at EXUMER's new Metal Blade landing page at www.metalblade.com/exumer!

EXUMER recorded their first new album in 25 years with renowned producer Waldemar Sorychta (Grip Inc., Therion, Sodom, Moonspell, etc.) at the helm. The 10-track strong, hard-hitting CD 'Fire & Damnation' combines a punishing production with aggressive song writing. EXUMER manages to capture the intensity and feel of the 1980s thrash metal gems and yet sound up to date on their latest output.

'Fire & Damnation' will catapult EXUMER back in the forefront of the international music markets and the following live assaults in 2012 will only further cement the band’s cult status among the ranks of classic thrash metal acts in the world!

EXUMER are: Matthias Kassner - Drums, H.K. - Guitars,
Mem V. Stein - Vocals, Ray Mensh - Guitars, T. Schiavo - Bass

Formed in 1985, by singer/bassist Mem V. Stein and guitarist Ray Mensh, EXUMER went on to release two albums in 1986 (Possessed by Fire), and 1987 (Rising from the Sea), that are regarded as some of the most cult thrash metal releases ever to come out of Germany. EXUMER was also one of the first thrash metal acts to capture exotic, foreign markets like Poland and Brazil, where their albums were domestically released in the 1980s. The subsequent tours that followed those releases secured the band live shows in front of thousands of fans and an unusually large following outside of Germany.

Plagued by line-up changes and internal turmoil the band broke up in 1990, and did not perform live, with the exception in 2001 at the prestigious Wacken Open Air Festival, until 2009.

Mem and Ray decided to re-activate EXUMER in 2008, and the band embarked on their first tour since 1988, where they played 5 shows in April/May of 2009. The “5 Nights of Fire Tour”, took the band through Europe (Germany, Holland, Greece), and the USA, where they headlined the “Thrasho de Mayo Festival”, in front of 1.300 fans in Los Angeles.

EXUMER returned to Europe in spring and the fall of 2010, where the band appeared at Norway’s “Inferno Festival”, among other stops in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Poland and Bulgaria during their “European Ignition Tour Part I & II”.

Worldwide 2012 tour dates to be announced soon!

Music Download And Stream, Neither Black Nor White…The ‘Grey Spot’ Is Taking Over

Music Download And Stream, Neither Black Nor White…The ‘Grey Spot’ Is Taking Over

A guest post by Tommy Morriello, Crash Bang Management (a.o. Exumer, Onslaught, Gama Bomb)

As a music manager I am frequently confronted with the question of whether or not I am pro or against illegal and/or free music download and streaming… I used to be pretty much against it like U2′s manager Paul Mcguiness.

I have not changed my mind in regard to the rights an artist has – to get paid for what he does – but I see now that the source of the problem and the solution lie far away from the music end-consumer.

Music download can be something positive, and it is! I do believe that viral marketing can have a huge impact on someone’s popularity and therefore further his career. The main question is: how to make a profit and run a business, where there is no real income from it’s main product – in this case the music?

I hear a lot of people talking about merchandise and live shows being the real solutions for the future – I just like to remind everyone that merchandise and live shows already were parts of an artist’s income before the advent of the Internet. Therefore this is not only a weak, but also an absolutely stupid, answer to the problem.

You must now be thinking that I am still against free download and streaming, but no, I am not. I just believe that those who offer it for free should pay for using music as part of their advertising arsenal.

Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Telecom and even mobile phone companies being some of many corporations that take advantage of a product that lacks or has outdated, general and global regulations, simply lobby their way through and around royalties and copyrights, under the “we promote” flag.

Nokia comes with Music and that’s cool. But who does Nokia pay for this great feature? And how much?

Companies, which use 3rd party products, brands or services, pay insignificant amounts of money to Artists and labels, forcing them to either join this “criminal” scheme or to be doomed to oblivion.

A year ago I was talking with a business manager from a known German indie label, analyzing Spotify’s popularity and he told me that it was a necessary evil. The label had to join since everyone was doing it. The label had over a 2 Million plays from 40 different artists.

That Label got £440 for the lot, and after taking their commission (25%) of £110 plus £250 for campaign-advertising. The remaining £80 was proportionally divided, £40 going to the artists. There you can see how much 1 year on Spotify will give you…

Now remember before you slander a record label, keep in mind that not all of them are bad and almost none of them are making huge profits nowadays!

If you take the recent article from The Independent about superstar Lady Gaga, who probably has better royalty rates than the above mentioned label, she got around £108 for 1 million plays.

I am not sure, but I would bet my life that the label invested a slightly bigger amount in order to promote the “Lady” in question.

I believe that digital sales could easily be obsolete in a couple of years, and all music available could be for free to listen to, if artists and labels would get their share from these Multi-billion-dollar companies.

If music is not to be sold over the counter, that is fine – neither will newspapers, movies or books in the future – but those who provide means of mass distribution and also earn billions through advertising and attracting investors should pay their suppliers accordingly, in this case the music industry and the artists.

This is the “Grey Spot” in the music business, leave the end consumer alone. At present, music distribution is a free product for Internet giants who managed for years, to stay away from the spotlight, blaming either the consumer or the labels for something that they are creating: the utter downfall of the artist as a professional worker.

If you have the illusion that indie labels make a lot of money, you are wrong. I see many A&R directors, PR managers working out of passion, driving to meetings in 1997 Toyota Corollas, and sleeping at travelodges.

Indie labels sometimes fight to present new products and even help bands to tour, knowing that this might be a risk investment with no compensation at the end of the day.

The idea of free music is now moving to another level. Some of the big festivals (especially in Europe) offer artists a spot on the festival, telling them that this is a great opportunity for them to promote themselves. Artists go there, play for free and on top they spend a couple of thousands in transport and lodging, so a sold out festivals can put their names on the bill and make even more money.

If this idea of promotion sticks, then we will see the demise of professional agents, managers, crews and artists, who will simply stop working, as there is no more money whatsoever to be made, never mind a living.

Stage production in the last 10 years has never been so bad. If we compare it to the ’80s (OK, they were a bit over the top), even smaller acts would back then offer something for your eyes besides the music.

If no action is taken, soon we shall see music, currently an industry employing thousands of people, becoming a hobby like gardening, or knitting in few years.

METAL BLADE RECORDS Streaming New CANNIBAL CORPSE Song, Studio Footage Online

METAL BLADE RECORDS Streaming New CANNIBAL CORPSE Song

'Demented Aggression', taken from the upcoming CANNIBAL CORPSE album 'Torture', can be streamed via SoundCloud.

'Torture' is set to be released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on March 9, March 12 in Europe and March 13 in North America.

The album can be pre-ordered on the band's official landing page at Metal Blade Records.

This is the official Metal Blade Records press release on 'Torture':

"America's reigning kings of brutality, CANNIBAL CORPSE, will unleash their twelfth studio offering this March via Metal Blade Records. Aptly titled 'Torture', the follow-up to 2009's 'Evisceration Plague' offers up 12 tracks of maniacally precise, soul-searing death metal. 'Torture' was again produced by Hate Eternal's Erik Rutan at his own Mana Recording Studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as well as Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and features the maniacal cover art by longtime CANNIBAL CORPSE artist, Vincent Locke.

While 'Torture' marks the latest progression in the band's sound, it also witnesses a return to what drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz accurately terms "the frenzied attack of 'Butchered At Birth' (1991) or 'Tomb Of The Mutilated' (1992)," infusing the band's advanced musicianship with the raw savagery that haunted their earlier releases, and in the process conceiving the definitive CANNIBAL CORPSE record.

Adds bassist Alex Webster on the outcome of the record: "We're extremely happy with how 'Torture' turned out. Erik Rutan did an amazing job with the production, and the songwriting and performances may be our strongest yet. We can't wait until our fans get to hear the whole thing!"

Torture Track Listing:
01. Demented Aggression
02. Sarcophagic Frenzy
03. Scourge of Iron
04. Encased in Concrete
05. As Deep As the Knife Will Go
06. Intestinal Crank
07. Followed Home Then Killed
08. The Strangulation Chair
09. Caged…Contorted
10. Crucifier Avenged
11. Rabid
12. Torn Through

As a precursor to the release, CANNIBAL CORPSE will perform a special one-off show at the Culture Room in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 22nd then head to the seas to take part in this year's edition of the 70,000 Tons Of Metal Cruise. The band will get a short break before a near month-long march through Europe on the Full Of Hate 2012 tour with labelmates Behemoth."
