KATAKLYSM Releasing Waiting For The End To Come On Cassette "For Nostalgic Reasons"

Montreal-based death metallers KATAKLYSM will release their new album, Waiting For The End To Come, on October 29th in North America via Nuclear Blast (October 25th in Europe). It will be available on CD, digitally, as a Digipack, vinyl LP, and on cassette. Frontman Maurizio Iacono has issued the following statement:

"I have to admit it brings a smile to my face to see that cassette version being released. We decided to release it for nostalgic reasons. Had the idea a year ago, Nuclear Blast went with it (thanks!). My first cassette purchase was METALLICA's Kill 'Em All. Welcome back, tape."

CANCER To Reform For Festival Appearances; First Three Albums To Be Re-Issued

The classic line-up of U.K. death metallers CANCER - John Walker (guitar, vocals), Carl Stokes (drums), Ian Buchanan (bass) and Barry Savage (lead guitar) - will reform to promote their first three albums which are being re-released on CD and Vinyl by Cyclone Empire Records later this year.

The band plans to make a number of festival appearances during which they will play songs from To The Gory End, Death Shall Rise and The Sins Of Mankind only.

The releases are fully authorized and supported by the band. They will come with loads of bonus material and liner notes. Moreover, all three albums will be re-mastered and get a revised cover artwork.

"Long overdue releases, good to see 'em back out there. Featuring John Tardy, Glenn Benton and James Murphy and a lot of gore flick influence in the capable hands of Scott Burns and Simon Efemey.

We are very pleased that the first CD’s are coming out again, hopefully we will reach new fans that have not heard CANCER.", states the band.

OBITUARY Writing On A ‘Monster’ Album; Announce New Tour Dates

OBITUARY fans rejoice! The legendary death metal band have been locked away for the last few weeks inside their Redneck Studios working on their upcoming album and they’ve got twelve new songs ready to crush our eardrums.

Not only that, but they’ve also announced new tour dates next month. 

Here’s the latest update from Donald Tardy: “We have been busting our asses in the studio, having a blast and writing new material. Twelve songs are done and ready to be recorded but we want a monster album for our fans so we are working on a few more to make this record huge.

We will continue writing until October when we will take a break from the studio and new music and go destroy the Trois-Rivieres Metalfest with HATEBREED and crush the U.S.” These are the tour dates:

CARCASS Stream Entire Surgical Steel Album

Surgical Steel, the new album from reactivated British extreme metal pioneers CARCASS, can now be streamed in its entirety in this YouTube clip:

Surgical Steel will be released on September 16 in the U.K., September 13 in the rest of Europe and September 17 in North America via Nuclear Blast Records. The effort was produced by Colin Richardson (FEAR FACTORY, MACHINE HEAD, NAPALM DEATH, SLIPKNOT, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE) and mixed by Andy Sneap (MEGADETH, ACCEPT, EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY).

Surgical Steel will be available on several collectible formats, which can now be ordered with or without an exclusive t-shirt design from the Nuclear Blast webstore.

DEATH - DTA Tribute Tour Coming To Europe In November

In 1998, The Sound Of Perseverance, the very last studio album of progressive death metal icons DEATH from Florida, saw the light of day. In 2001 their charismatic band leader, guitar god and sound pioneer Chuck Schuldiner tragically passed away. Many years later, the towering monolith of Chuck's and DEATH's testimony hasn't even faintly started to crumble, cult albums such as Leprosy (1988) or Symbolic (1995) remain untouchable.

Whilst older generations have their (live) memories to treasure, there's a big bunch of younger death metal freaks who could get in touch with DEATH only via DVD or YouTube - it's about time to change this! Earlier this year, the "DTA" tribute tour excited thousands of American fans, and in November 2013 this awesome trek will finally make it to Europe.

The DEATH line-up consists of Human legends Sean Reinert (drums), Paul Masvidal (guitars) and Steve DiGiorgio (bass). Max Phelps, some of you will have seen him performing live with CYNIC, will step in Chuck's footsteps - and this amazing tribute line-up will perform songs from every DEATH era.

Supporting them will be German tech death crew OBSCURA who have been massively influenced by DEATH themselves and are currently working on the follow-up to 2011's Omnivium. Swiss act DARKRISE will also be part of the tour, the brutal death metal groove monsters recently thrilled with Realeyes.

CARACH ANGREN
If you dig classic black metal mixed with symphonic elements, you surely will have come across Dutch band CARACH ANGREN! Their sound is often compared to that of early DIMMU BORGIR, and their sombre and majestic songwriting impressed an ever-growing fan base on albums such as Death Came Through A Phantom Ship (2010). CARACH ANGREN recently thrilled with Where The Corpses Sink Forever (2012).

DESCENDING
DESCENDING are hailing right from the heart of Greece – Athens! Founded in 2007, these guys indulge in modern death and thrash metal with melodic hooks guaranteed to get you addicted! After the release of their new opus magnum New Death Celebrity early 2013 and a planned tour with Greek comrades SEPTICFLESH, shooting stars DESCENDING will make an appearance at the EXTREMEFEST!

MALIGNANT TUMOUR
Czech act MALIGNANT TUMOUR was one of the first bands in their home country to belch out extreme sounds in the early 90s. The raw songwriting of their early years has now evolved to balls-out “Dirty Metallic Crust’n’Roll” – an infectious and groovy mixture! The brand new MALIGNANT TUMOUR album Overdose And Overdrive will be released early 2013.

VIBRION
VIBRION can proudly claim to be one of the first death metal acts ever to emerge from Argentina! Quite a while ago these guys relocated to Belgium though to indulge in their hefty brand of raw death and thrash metal. In 2012, the old school brigade unearthed the exhaustive box set The Contagion Decade – and now it’s time for their return on stage (and to the studio)!

KADAVERFICKER
KADAVERFICKER means CORPSEFUCKER – quite the subtle band name, right? These Germans have been dealing in death metal and grindcore since the early `90s, or as the band likes to call it: “Nekrokore”! Obviously their lyrics are more in the “City Of The Living Dead” vein than “Pretty Woman”, and after a long hiatus KADAVERFICKER finally returned in 2012 with Exploitation Nekronation!

CARCASS - Jeff Walker Confirms New Album Exclusively At Decibel Magazine

The pathologist’s report needs to be supplemented by a new chapter:

CARCASS vocalist/bassist Jeff Walker has confirmed recurring rumours about the band’s first new album in 17 years. “I think it sounds almost like the missing link between Necroticism and Heartwork, but with some groove in there.”

The record, produced by Colin Richardson, will be released sometime in 2013 through a yet-to-be determined label.

Being nothing short of genre-defining and originally released in 1990, Spiritual Healing marked a new turn in the Death discography, one which ushered in cleaner production, a new level of boundary pushing musicianship and songwriting skills that were previously unimaginable from a metal band. Spiritual Healing sets the standard for riffs, insane time changes and of course mainman Chuck Schuldiner’s masterful guitar solos.

Filmed by HEAVY METAL HOME TV and originally produced for a DVD release, the documentary features almost two hours of live performances, interviews and festival impressions. Due to licencing and monetary issues, the DVD plans had to be abandoned.
