NIGHT IN GALES - Im Interview Auf The-Pit.de

"Aus künstlerischer Sicht
bereuen wir gar nichts"

NIGHT IN GALES

Manche behaupten, es gehe recht back to the roots.

NIGHT IN GALES - 2011 In Review

- 2011 In Review -

"Night In Gales – wait a minute..." - some reviews of our new album "Five Scars" started like that. For quite a while we ourselves didn´t really consider our "comeback" to happen soon, either. Not that we would have been completety lazy during the last years, but we were at least almost invisible for the public eye. Now it´s more than ten years after our last full length album "Necrodynamic". Enter "Five Scars".

After "Five Scars" had been mixed & mastered by Melodeath icon Dan Swanö in spring 2011 and a record deal with Lifeforce Records had been inked in summer 2011, our new album has hit the stores about a month ago – and has put Classic Melodic Death Metal back on the map again! The reactions from the press and the fans are overwhelming so far, and we´re surprised, happy and grateful for all those words of praise, rich points and even one or another "Album of the month"-compliment! All within a few weeks!

So it´s about time to scream out a huge "Thank you!" to Dan Swanö, Darius & Synesthesy Studios, Roger & Studio 141, Stefan & Arne from Lifeforce Records, Sascha & Featured Artists Promotions, our guest cello player Gunnar and everybody else involved in the making of "Five Scars"!

Not to forget about those of you who, old school style, bought the new album on CD. If you didn´t get your copy of "Five Scars" yet – it´s not too late to come up with some reasonable New Year´s resolutions...

"Five Scars" has already made its live debut, but we´ll definitely switch to "Super Pursuit Mode" for 2012. Some really promising shows are already marked in our calenders, and we´re pretty damn eager to bring those five scars upon you!

Along these lines we wish you all a heavy new year - may the five scars be with you!

LIFEFORCE RECORDS - Looking For New U.S. Signings

German metal, hardcore and rock label LIFEFORCE RECORDS (home of a.o. Nervecell, Night in Gales, Hackneyed and Nightrage) is looking for unsigned acts from the U.S.:

"YEAHHHH, you read completely right! We want YOUR BAND or your favourite unsigned band to be signed to Lifeforce Records!

There are a few simple rules you need to keep in mind if you provide us your suggestions, so please read carefully:

1. This time we are strictly looking for U.S. bands only
2. If you are a fun project bullshit band (crabcore, vocoders, autotune, silly haircuts, crying about your girlfriend left…) please don’t waste your and our time, we want a real band!
3. You need to be active touring or able to tour. Best chances have bands with a booking agent in place already and somewhat of a touring history.
4. Better be good!
5. Please send links only (preferably Facebook, Youtube, Reverbnation links or links to your electronic press kit), links to downloads or unrequested mp3s are not accepted and will be deleted!
6. Please make sure their is an appropriate contact info in your mail (name, position in the band) and your band name (yes! we experienced that several times before).

Ok, that’s pretty much it, so go ahead and mailbomb us with your suggestions to this address and make our ears bleeding!"

"Five Scars is a contender for album of the year, for sure, and by far the best comeback in a good while. Night in Gales couldn’t be any more back, and hopefully this time around, they receive the respect they deserve. This is an absolutely essential addition to the musical library of any who have any sense of good taste." 9,5/10 - blistering.com

"Their most solid release, which combines the best all the different details that have created the own NIGHT IN GALES´ sound, the most mature, with the best songwritings… Simply, the best album by this German act. They could not have had a better comeback and I must say, years for them have not passed in vain." 9/10 - queensofsteel.com

"If you are a fan of the genre, a fan of the band, or both, then do check this album. With the majority of the songs standing much above the average, this release will establish the trademark NIG in the Metal map once again, and will open new opus in their career."

Working on this album actually ignited a spark in my own writing and I came up with one of the best Death/A.O.R. songs I have ever written, during the mix of this album!! Easily one of the best Melodic Death Metal releases of the year!!"

NIGHT IN GALES present first track from upcoming album 'Five Scars'

"Time has come, folks! After a full fuckin´ decade since our last full length and the recent signing to LIFEFORCE RECORDS, the first track from our new album 'Five Scars' is online now! We´re pretty much looking forward to the release of 'Five Scars' and whatever may come with that for NIGHT IN GALES - but for the moment, listen to 'This Neon Grave' and enjoy a fresh breeze of classic melodic death metal!

'This Neon Grave' is a little story about a bunch of sociopathic misfits, who rush through this brave new world of sensory overload. All in the name of success, fame, money and other modern day icons, this bunch of poor oucasts is doomed to lose their way within this world. So all these neon, bleeping and blinking temptations and fake promises and are finally nothing but a neon grave to them. Apart from that - 'This Neon Grave' is simply a great song that captures what NIGHT IN GALES 2011 is all about!"

LIFEFORCE RECORDS signs NIGHT IN GALES

German Metal, Hardcore and Rock label LIFEFORCE RECORDS has proclaimed its latest signing today:

"We are very pleased to announce the signing of the German pioneers of melodic death metal, NIGHT IN GALES to the Lifeforce Records roster. It has been silent about them far too long!

Flashback: After NIGHT IN GALES’ debut EP “Sylphlike” had hit the scene like a bomb in 1995 (up till now this release remains one of the best selling demos ever!), the first album “Towards The Twilight” was released in 1997 under the wings of Nuclear Blast Records and NIG toured with bands such as of In Flames, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom and Death, before releasing their second album “Thunderbeast”. Further touring with acts like Dismember or again Children Of Bodom followed, as well as appearances at festivals like Wacken Open Air or Summer Breeze Open Air

While the releases this far presented the band with a clearly melo-death rocking groove, their third album “Nailwork” in 2000 showcased a rather morbid and more progressive side to things and NIG not only toured Europe with Old Man´s Child and Krisiun but also visited Japan together with Defleshed

The band’s upcoming “Necrodynamic” release in 2001 saw them switching to Massacre Records and also to a more varied and melodic stylistic approach, which after some line up changes also lead to the band taking a break in order to musically re-orientate. In doing so, there was music released by the members of NIGHT IN GALES during the zero years in / with acts like Deadsoil, The Very End, Grind Inc. or In Blackest Velvet, yet nothing was to be heard by NIG apart from the self-released “Ten Years Of Tragedy” EP 2005 (a free download offering, celebrating the group’s tenth birthday!).

All of a sudden and unexpectedly, the time-out after “Necrodynamic” had lasted for almost a decade, but ever since a “comeback” show in 2009 at a local festival and the full re-release of the band’s catalogue by Metal Mind Productions, NIGHT IN GALES have returned to work on a brandnew album, showcasing a matured and re-defined band, fresh and quality-driven as ever before.

The new and fifth album “Five Scars”, which is set to be released on November 7th in Europe and a day later in North America, successfully combines all of the band’s past trademarks within the typically Swedish melodic death metal sound structure, without rejecting new influences and thus making it both the most melodically accessible as well as also the most aggressive effort in the band’s history so far, smoothly rounded off with a killer soundmix courtesy of scene icon Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath, etc.).

Jens Basten from NIGHT IN GALES about the signing to Lifeforce Records:
We´re back, fuck yeah! 17 years after initially cooking our very own brew of German Melodic Death Metal, there´s a new NIGHT IN GALES album coming your way!

Five Scars” will definitely be a feast for the melo-death gourmets who might be fed up with all the wannabes who led this great metal style into total insignificance! Lifeforce Records proved themselves as true epicureans, hence we are proud to be part of the Lifeforce family now! “Five Scars” will be out in Germany on November 4th, and we´re looking forward to firing up the kitchen with a strong new partner aside!

Stay tuned for the first tunes from “Five Scars” to be revealed the coming days!"

HACKNEYED - New Track 'Maculate Conception' Available For Streaming

The brand new HACKNEYED track 'Maculate Conception' is available for streaming at this location. 'Maculate Conception' is taken from the band’s third album and Lifeforce Records debut 'Carnival Cadavre' to be released August 22nd in Europe and August 30th in North America!

Commented HACKNEYED on their upcoming Lifeforce Records debut:
“It’s hard to believe. After two years in-between rehearsal room, shows, being on tour and pre-production we finally managed to get our third album ready to launch. It’s named 'Carnival Cadavre' and will be tested in human experiment at the Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbühl on August 19th 2011 for the first time. Once again we produced our album with Corni Bartels at the Weltraum Studios and Björn Goosses (Killustrations) again purified our disc with a stunning artwork.

We added another fine portion of groove and brutality for you and showed once again what Hackneyed is made of. With our new label Lifeforce Records we found the matching partner and we’re really looking forward to our future cooperation. We’re curious where our journey with the 'Carnival Cadavre' will lead us within the next weeks and months. And perhaps soon it’s also close to you they say: The Circus’ Back in town!!!”

HACKNEYED - New Album Artwork By Killustrations Unveiled

"Ladies and Gentleman, we proudly present the cover of our new album 'Carnival Cadavre'. As with our last album we’ve drawn on the proven work of Björn Goosses from Killustrations. And we weren’t disappointed!

An artwork “having hand and foot (German saying for “holding water”)” in the true sense of the word!!! The truth behind the 'Carnival Cadavre' is only revealed after a second glance at the bright fairground and circus atmosphere with Ferris wheel and circus tents. And neither on the cover nor in the songs a lack of blood, guts or Hackneyed’s very own black humor can be observed.

'Carnival Cadavre' is set to be released on August 22nd in Europe (August 19th in Germany) and on August 30th in North America."
